Love the food here, esp the skewers. The meat is perfectly grilled, can taste the BBQ taste upon first bite. The food has lots of wok hey. Be prepared to queue if you are coming on a weekend. Alternatively, come around 6 pm to avoid the queue.
Had dinner ($143.40) on 6/11/23, was good. Friendly service. Long queue but cleared fast.
We arrived and already standing in the restaurant, the staff were still chatting with each other. Please note that this was around 5:45pm on a weekday. It’s not crowded and the staff are already so inattentive.
We had to get their attention and the lady was very rude. Telling us where we can and cannot sit. But the restaurant is basically mostly vacant.
The food was alright. I wouldn’t say any of the dishes blown our socks off. The most underwhelming dish was the ‘Salted french beans’. It’s bland and boring.
If you’re visiting this place in a small group, please note that the portions of each dish is a reflection of its price; huge. The meat skewers also requires a minimum of 5 sticks of EACH meat. And there quite a bit of hard bits in the meat. Especially in the mutton and beef.
They are always super busy during dinner time. Always long queue. We finally managed to try them!
However, we were puzzled to why they are so popular after trying. I think 合家欢乐 upstairs serve better tasting food.
The best dish we had was 尖椒肥肠 (finished before I remember to take picture 😅), it was spicy and not funky.
水煮牛肉could be spicier, skewers were bland and the lamb ribs were so-so and a rip-off at $28! Same for the miserable oyster at $5 per shell.
Beef fried rice is nice when hot, has wok hey and tasted good.
As usual, we over ordered as we wanted to try as many dishes as possible and had to pay for $2 for 3 containers to tabao our leftovers.
Overall, we were a bit disappointed with the food. Also to note, there's no service charge, so grab the beer bottles, glasses and opener at the cashier and serve yourself. 😅
Come to try there BBQ , which is value for the price.
For Beef, lamb, pork it is just $1 per stick for min 5 Pcs per order.
A bit pricey for the Squid, scallops and Oyster but taste is nice.
Is great to go along with beer
We arrived about 5pm and it was almost half full.
Friendly Services with helpful staff.
Will come back again
Great value for money. Their portions are generous. The food is prepared quickly and flavouring isn’t too radical, neither too salty or spicy. Good place for people wanting to try Chinese cuisine.

I recently dined at You Jian that I must say met all my expectations. Service was ok and the food i ordered were exceptional. The restaurant is known for its skewers, wok-fried dishes and barbecue fish all of which can be perfectly paired with an ice-cold beer. They have the China brands like Xue Hua, Tsing Dao and other selection.
The La Zi Ji was cooked to perfection, not overly oily, and packed with flavor. The dishes were made with a range of vegetables and meats, giving each plate a unique taste and texture.
Apart from that, the skewers had a lovely charred flavor, and the chicken meat was so tender that it just melted in your mouth. Chicken liver and beef was ok. Must try , Taiwanese sausage and to accompany the food, they had an impressive range of beers to choose from - all ice-cold and perfect for a hot day.
The ambiance of the place and restaurant is also worth mentioning. It was well-lit and had a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the outdoor seat is cooling.
Overall, if you're looking for a decent Chinese restaurant with a wide variety of food, I would highly recommend giving 友間 a try.
